Last 13 questions. I didn't write all of these at once!

18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your art (aka "bunnies") from?

The two types of artistic inspiration I get are concepts and images. The line between them is very blurry of course, and sometimes I'll think "I want an image which gets across X concept" and then get a strong mental image that fits the bill. There's a continuum between art that is just pretty with no real meaning, which is usually inspired by other art (not necessarily fanart), and meta which doesn't have much aesthetic intent behind it which is usually inspired by thinking about canon and other people's meta/fic/fanart.

19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start making art right away, or do you write/sketch down the idea for further use?

Ideas often percolate in my brain for a while before I can figure out how to express them, but most of the time once I put pencil to paper I finish the picture within a day or so without a large break.

20 – Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?

Definitely. I have even drawn fanart of quite a few fanworks done by other people. I've also been inspired to express my view of things by works that contradicted my personal canon or were flat out offensive.

21 – Series/sets – Have you ever created series of connected artworks, and if so, why?

I'm assuming comics with multiple pages don't count.

For Bioware game characters I have done sets of art/comics of the same PC, though usually if I have an actual story to tell about them I'll write some fic or comics as well. I don't remember ever drawing a "sequel" to a picture in any other context, but it's something I can imagine myself doing if I have more to explore about that idea.

Other than that there's this art meme I guess, plus the time I drew a bunch of Lackadaisy characters as humans in a similar style.

22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

Yes! I've done [community profile] thelittlebang, [livejournal.com profile] trekreversebang, [livejournal.com profile] yuletart, and [community profile] white_lotus.

The first two made me get really anxious, so I don't do collaborative work any more. I liked the other two about the same, but I think I enjoyed white_lotus more, partly because I got fic in return (I can draw my own art much more easily!) and partly because I was assigned [personal profile] pippin so there wasn't that usual paranoia about not understanding the recipient's tastes :)

23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? DeviantArt? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

This journal (crossposted to dw and lj), DeviantArt, and Tumblr. I used to post to Artician but it was a pain so I stopped.

24 – Betaing – Do you use art betas? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

I have asked for advice once or twice for cultural/language etc stuff, I find it really stressful (even though everyone I've asked for advice has been really nice about it) so tend to avoid situations where it will come up if I can.

25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you create fanart? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" for art? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

Sometimes, but I'm just as likely to find it distracting.

26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a piece of fanart?

I can remember thinking "I can't believe I'm researching this" once or twice but not the specifics. Some of the Colour Guard outfits I came across while researching this marchingstuck picture were certainly pretty odd.

27 – Where is your favorite place to create art, and do you use traditional media, or digital ones, or both?

Same place I usually am: sitting up in bed or on the couch.

I usually draw a basic sketch in pencil, then go over it digitally.

28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether a shared art project, or illustrations for story, or having a writer work on a piece based on your art?

I did art for someone else's story for [community profile] thelittlebang, and stressed myself out ridiculously wanting to make it good enough. I then did art for [livejournal.com profile] trekreversebang and waited to finish it off while my writer figured out some stuff…and then she defaulted. By the time I got assigned a pinch hitter I'd lost my inspiration, so the (very good) story got some pretty crappy art.

I don't do formal collaborations any more :/

29 – What is your current project or projects?

I don't have anything in the works apart from some vague percolating bunnies, I tend to draw things pretty quickly or I run out of energy and inspiration. (See: this meme)

30 – Do you have a favorite piece of fanart you've created? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!

Oooh, tough question! *pokes though gallery*

I think Your Turn Uncle, I certainly seem to hate it less than most of my other art (I tend to start disliking pictures not long after finishing them) I drew it for [livejournal.com profile] yuletart, which meant I put in extra effort. I have an unfortunate tendency to get overambitious with gift art, so this time made a deliberate effort to wait until I had a simple, clear idea I could draw well. Plus I always like art about things being set on fire :D
