I'm not sure what I think. It doesn't look totally terrible, and it's been too long since I read the book for me to remember how close it is plotwise (ignoring the addition of Captain Jack etc) Also, yay Penelope Cruz, she shall replace Orlando Bloom as my curly-haired brunette in periodwear to swoon over :D

Of course, there are zombies. I'm more ok with them in books than movies (or I wouldn't
be such a fan of Tim Powers, I guess, since he uses them now and then, and they are a major part of the book), hopefully it's not going to set off my phobia/squick too badly :/ And hopefully it's not going to go to a horrible horrible place with the Voodoo, from what I remember the book treats the tradition with a moderate amount of respect but I'm not sure I trust the POTC people to be very thoughtful about it.

ooh, time to watch the first 3 back-to-back, methinks! (i have srs issues with some of the stuff in them, but i do also like to watch films with an analysis that goes: "hee! hot! lol!" - and these films are good for that!)

For me, the third movie was freaking atrocious. Even seeing this embedded video makes my inner voice go WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT.
