So! It is my birthday next week. I've been meaning to say this coherently for a while, but instead you get belated incoherence: If you were thinking of getting me a present or card or whatever but haven't and are stressing about it, don't. Seriously. I have been SO BAD with presents, and I'm really not fussed.

My paid lj account also expires next week, I don't feel comfortable giving them money but it is going to hurt :(

I was born in late '89 so I always feel weird saying I was born in the 80's.

I was born in late '79 and love saying I was born in the 70s because it's only just true. When I was at school I would give my friends born in the early 80s crap about being itty bitty young '80s children. *was rather an obnoxious teenager* See also, me using this icon to dispense medical advice.

At least on dreamwidth. The 80s are winning on lj. THIS IS WHY DREAMWIDTH IS THE BEST.

That's a not-insignificant part of why I dropped posting to LJ at all, to be honest. Without paid features it's aggravatingly sucky, but I just can't square giving them money with my conscience, at all.

Whereas I wouldn't have that problem with DW even if I were giving them money regularly. (Which I'm not, because I have a seed account. I gave them more money at startup and don't have to give them money again.)

I wasn't ready to make that sort of commitment, but I don't mind giving them money every year for my shiny icons and polls :)

It does help that they don't keep pulling the crap that LJ have been lately that's all DEAR GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU kind of thing...

Jen and I both got seed accounts sort of on the "... SHINY" principle, alongside considering it nifty to be around at the start of something cool like DW.
