Yule tides and tarts

First off: what is a Yuletide Treat? I've been vaguely pondering trying some of the bits of yuletide that don't require a commitment and they sound like they might be what I'm after but I can't find information anywhere.

Second: Yay exchanges! I'm on yuletart and hp_holidaygen and both have been great so far. It's so exciting and full of community-warm-fuzzies.

Specifically: I got my yuletart gift today. Art! Made just for me! (I asked for femslashy women with swords, and that's what I got :)) And they're going to send it to my house. *squees*

hp_holidaygen: Thrice Defied Frank and Alice Longbottom during the beginning of the war.

I think what is meant by a Yuletide Treat is a story written for Yuletide Madness. Does that match with what you'd heard?

Hullo. I've been poking my head in here every once in a while since I found your Pride & Prejudice story. A Yuletide Treat is basically any extra story other than the assigned story, and they can be written by anybody, in the exchange or not. If you write something over 1000 words, it can be posted anytime (although it's weird this year because the whole thing is moving to AO3 and no one's quite sure how it'll work), but after the upload deadline for assigned stories, all the prompts get posted and the minimum word count is lifted, so you can sift through the list and write drabbles if you like.
