So I just finished "Scout's Progress", the next Liaden book by Sharon Lee and Steven Miller.

It turns out to be a romance about a mathematician/maths lecturer who uses her ability with equations to become a renowned spaceship pilot and find love. I mean really, how could I not enjoy it? :)

Also the introduction is by Susan Krinard, who is married to [livejournal.com profile] serge_lj, which is just cool.

The ending is remarkably abrupt though. I vaguely recall someone warning me about that.

I believe the sequel is due out sometime next year. Mouse and Dragon. I anticipate it with eagerness.

Does the spaceship have vernier dials? It's not a proper romance without vernier scales. *is very old-fashioned*

OT math ping: dunno if you saw this lecture about African fractals, but you're one of the people I had in mind when I reposted it, given our discussions of the difficulty of finding non-Euro histories of mathematics. No requirement to watch or comment, obv, I mostly just wanted to make sure you knew about it.

I love Scout's Progress! Even with the abrupt ending. How many of the Liaden books have you read?
