Just mainlined 2 seasons of Chuck.
This is sheer, unashamed geekboy wish fufillment. There were definitely real geeks involved with this, being a geek girl I didn't get all the references and found some of the gender stuff a bit skeevy, but still really enjoyed it. It's like tasty popcorn, not very deep or sustaining but fun and moreish (it made a very good antidote to "Being Human"!).
The premise: Chuck, a computer nerd who failed uni and works fixing computers in aWalmart Buy More inadvertently has all of the CIA and NSA's secrets downloaded into his brain and has to become a spy. With a hot CIA handler. Who he has to pretend to be going out with.
So there's wacky hiijinks at the Buy More with his coworkers, and thrills saving the world, and lots of adorkable flailing, and can't-break-protocol UST. Oh and LOTS of crack-tastic slashy and/or self indulgent cheese(*). *takes a moment to snicker to self about the final line of season 2*
It's a very male show, I don't think we EVER see his one female coworker who gets any lines actually use a computer. But Sarah, the CIA handler and love interest, is genuinely kick ass and awesome and fairly well drawn (she totally wears the pants in their sort-of-fake relationship) and overall the female characters don't usually come off too badly even if they're almost always wearing implausibly skimpy outfits.
It draaaags out the UST but that's what fanfic is for.
So: overall, some problematic aspects but I put it down to characters I like in a world I don't (eg torture works and stalking is gross but harmless, but the characters we like disapprove of them anyway) Also Chuck is cute, I think he's replaced Ten as my TV boyfriend :D
(*)Though no GLBT-ness is ever made explicitly part of the text (EDIT: I stand corrected), and the subtext is that being GLB (and if it ever came up, I assume also T) is kinda weird and funny and gross. Chuck does have to kiss Adam Baldwin's character Casey for reasons of national security though, and is apologetic rather than grossed out :)
