Being Human

A six part British series about a vampire, a werewolf and ghost living in a house together, and is basically a cross between Spaced and Ultraviolet, flipping from charming everyday-life humour to tense, whack you in the chest fantasy/horror/thriller/drama in turns.

Overall I really liked it, it was actually a thoughtful exploration of what it would really be like to be kind of dead and not human, but still..kind of human too (rather than "ooh, aren't vampires scary/sexy?" Which is not to say they weren't that too, sometimes :)). Gender roles were a bit skeevy in parts but didn't piss me off in the end as much as I thought they would. It was very intense and succinct, I think I would have enjoyed it more slightly more stretched out, as it was I had to take a break in the middle of every episode to climb down from the edge of my seat.

There is apparently a pilot with a slightly different cast.

The UK tends to go for shorter, and hopefully quality series, rather than a good idea stretched out over waaay too many episodes.

I'm enjoying it so far.

Haha, I finished Being Human last night, too! I watched the pilot first, so it was weird to see the different actors/takes on the characters. Definately worth watching as there is lots of George. Also, Adrian Leister (sp?) is Herrick! And Annie is very white, and needs subtitles.
Did I mention how adorable George is? He is. Oh, George <3

The pilot was pretty cool, only thing I've seen. The ghost in it, this crazy irish chick was awesome.

I'd heard awesome things about it via fandom, so was slightly dissapointed with the [to me] slow pace in reality. Aside from that though, it was good actors and good fun, especially ghost girl. I hope there's a 2nd series cos I feel like that there's room to build on them.
