As [livejournal.com profile] violetsquirrel reminded me, Geocities is going away!. (Anyone who was around the internet in the 90s should read that article, it's a work of art)

So, before it goes, here's my Geocities page. Fairly nondescript since I actually kept editing it until around 2001 (I got it back in my late teens. And I have to say, violetsquirrel saying "Oh no, my childhood!" makes me feel very old. We didn't have homepages when I was a child. We had to sumbit to class newspapers! Printed on dot matrix printers! In the snow!)

Anyone else got a Geocities page they want to share, revel in a bit of Gen X/Gen Y nostalgia?

I'd like to laugh at my siblings pages (they were children at the time, and very big fans of animated gifs. They've since moved on to MySpace) but alas I have lost the links. That award is from my sister, by the way, total nepotism in action.

ahahaha

'"The Sending",the fifth Obernewtyn book, is the last one (we hope!), and will (we hope again) be out September 2003!'

Oddly, I was into the internet during the geocities era, but never got into geocities at all. I had a PEAC course in, I think, year 4 where we made REAL webpages, but I really struggled because I couldn't think of any information to put on my page. It made me feel really bad for having no hobbies while everybody else was making cool pages about horses or go-karts. The weirdest thing looking back is that I did have hobbies and things I could have made a webpage about... I guess I just never considered anything webpage worthy.

Actually, must have been '97 or '98, so year 5 or 6. I worked this out as one of the things I did have to write about was that my favourite band was Arkarna - a somewhat obscure alt electro/rock band similar to the Prodigy. I'm so proud of my 10yr-old-self's music tastes. All the other girls would have said Hanson.

I had a geocities-era page that wasn't on geocities. It isn't on the net anymore, either, but it is on my laptop.

Also, that page was the origin of this username, now that I think of it.

...which is one of the reasons I don't have that page on the web anymore. ;-)

I liked looking at your first homepgae. :-)

I couldn't figure out your discussion of the stained-glass paint. You talk about it as if it's more fragile than the glass? As if it's supposed to be taken off the glass, maybe? Because when I did that when I was a kid, the paint always became integral to the glass.

Mine's still on there. The horror can be found here... http://www.geocities.com/warpwind82

Yours wouldn't load properly for me. I'll try it again when I back into Perth tomorrow but they may have caught on to all of the internet indulging in nostalgia and pulled it down even earlier
