This is Art in Perth

Various serious things have been happening in people's lives recently, best wishes to you all.

And now some cheerful things.

First: via sassamifrass(*), This Is Perth. Both informative and entertaining, explains the joy of our bustling, giant-flying-squid-guarded city.

Second, various random arty things I have made:

Kitten and Dragon. I sort of linked this a while ago, but was waiting until the postcard I originally designed it for got to it's recipient (rainbow) before properly linking it.

I've been trying to expand my style and the sorts of things I draw, so these were all useful.

As a belated birthday present for kitsune_iii I made this animation of a kitsune:

Researching it was fun, lots of cute pictures of foxes :) Though I kept finding stuff about 20th Century Fox or some anime called Kitsune etc.

Pondering a Hugo for Video Games

Having been thinking about the Hugos it occurred to me that video games aren't eligible. After discussing it with Cam we agreed that while the odd game might be worthy of one there isn't generally enough of them in any given year to justify a whole category.

Still, it was fun trying to list games (from all time, not just this year) we felt were worthy of at least being nominated. Cam was initially only allowing games he felt had a plot as good as a Hugo award winning novel, but I pointed out that tv, movies, and art all have their own categories, so imo a winning game should be a combination of good sff ideas, plot, art, feel etc as well as, of course, a good game. (Here's the recent long-form drama winners which I think is the closest category)
