So after this episode I and Cam were like :o
I'm a sucker for flashbacks, so I liked that aspect.
How many uncles does Claire have? Are Mr and Mrs Bennet going to have unexpected brothers turn up now? (Also, my head is going to an amusing Pride and Prejudice related place right now. But I digress) And one of them STOLE HER GIRLFRIEND IN THE PAST. Sneaky bugger.
Cam pointed out that Mr Petrelli has the powers of so many main characters now they HAVE to have some way to get them back.
Option 1:
Since Sylar is all retro-fitted good now (bah) and only went bad because A Girl Broke His Heart (quadriple a million bah) this is how I see it going down:
Elle goes to join Eviltech(*), and is in peril.
Sylar sees Elle, and in a fabulous act of self sacrifice defies his father to save her from something or other.
She is won over by this and apologises for ever treating him so badly, and explains that she had a secret baby with him which he must go protect. He forgives her. They kiss. She dies.
He yells Nooooo and vows to avenge her death and Be Good For The Sake Of The Child.
He defeats Papa Petrelli (with the help of BobtheHaitian, who also dies, bravely, to save Gabriel's life. They probably don't kiss) and gains his power. He then uses this in reverse to give everyone their powers back, and everyone loves him forever the end. (Oh and some more people die ie Meredith and Knox)
Option 2:
While Mr Petrelli is distracted draining Hiro's powers Ando knocks him on the head. He and Hiro make their escape via Hiro's spirit animal (a gazelle)
He goes back to Japan, and he, Peter, Claire, Micah, and Monica (goddammit) use the powers of sheer well meaningness and derring-do (and maybe BobTheHaitian) to defeat Mr Petrelli. But only after he has removed Mohinder's powers, so that when Sylar is all sad because Claire and Elle have gotten together he and Mohinder can find true love (while still sharing Molly custody with Matt). They then use the formula to get their powers back. And everyone is happy the end.
EDIT: Option 3
Also in both cases there needs to be some sort of powered kids playgroup or something. But instead they just make child characters disappear. Bah.
(*)I've been watching Kyle XY and all the evil companies have blurred together in my head.

Date: 2008-11-13 12:49 pm (UTC)I went into this season so utterly annoyed that they'd just ditched Monica IN DANGER without even a cameo that I vowed not to let myself get attached to any new characters and to just work on the assumption they'd die. This assumption has served me well :/

Date: 2008-11-13 04:31 pm (UTC)I didn't really get the reading that Sylar went bad because of the girl per se. She was more of a catalyst, I guess.
The Haitian, as always, has the trump-card power, so he'll have to come in at some point. I was annoyed in the earlier episode when Bennett was talking to him about trying to find a way to kill Sylar, and it was like, the most effective possible method is THE PERSON YOU'RE TALKING TO, AARGH. I do expect the Haitian to die at some point purely because he's just too much of a wild card.
I actually like the way that all the Petrelli men have different takes on stealing other people's powers. It gives the same nice sense of bloodline powers that you get from the Parkmans, but without the lameness of them having exactly the same power. Of course, Claire totally throws all that out the window, but whatever.
I really want to see Ando step up and do something heroic.

Yeah, that was pretty dodgy.

She's descended from Nathan, whose gene is artificial (and did not give a power-sucking ability). That and there's Meredith's genes in there too.

Date: 2008-11-13 07:44 pm (UTC)Perhaps Papa Petrelli accidentally hugs the Hatian and that power means that none of his other powers work and we have a good old fashioned fist-fight?

Date: 2008-11-14 02:52 am (UTC)Yes, I think it's quite plausible.
Heh. The haitian could so take Mr Petrelli in a fight :)

Date: 2008-11-13 11:59 pm (UTC)As Chris mentioned above, it's all going to come down to the Haitian. There's a number of ways they can do it, but they've basically reached a point where it's going to be utterly impossible to defeat Papa Petrelli without his input. And yeah, he's probably going to die. I mean, he has to, given he's an occasional supporting character and that seems to be the inevitable outcome for all occasional supporting characters. *mourns Kensei*

Date: 2008-11-14 03:18 am (UTC)To be honest I'm surprised the Haitian has survived this long, especially given their insistence on giving him no real background/personality/name etc...

Date: 2008-11-14 04:04 am (UTC)I suspect the only reason he's still alive is because they've had something nifty in mind for him since the very start. Once he's done said nifty thing, he'll probably be disposed of in a surprise head chopping incident.

Date: 2008-11-14 04:16 am (UTC)Well, he at least had some vague background stuff in the graphic novels. They still didn't actually give him a name in those, though.
