anti feminism

EDIT: Hmm, so perhaps judging such a dicey topic on a brief skim was unwise. I think I've been reading so much legitimate criticism of feminism for this post that I stopped being sufficiently cynical about anti-feminists motives.

Since greteldragon asked if I knew of any "Why I am not a feminist even though I'm a woman and against sexism" stuff(*) I've been keeping an eye out, and today came accross anti_feminism, which from a brief skim seems like it's participants have their hearts in the right place (ie they don't appear to be a bunch of raving mysogynists, unlike another community I came accross a while ago with a similar name I can't remember)

So, not my sort of thing, but thought some of you might be interested.

Have seen that group before and it didn't seem to be an interesting discussion about anti-feminism int he way you or I would describe it, more like bitching and snarking.

And I have vegan_snark for all my snarking needs :)

I came across this discussion on bloglines and am also a member of the anti-feminism group at livejournal but haven't participated. I'm an anti-feminist and there are plenty of discussions on the net about it. There's much misunderstanding about anti-feminism due mostly to knee jerk reactions and not alittle counter insurgency work by feminists.

Anti-feminism is probably the most potent and needed social justice effort of our time. With the takeover of the Left by the feminists on '72, all discussion and opposition to feminism was shut down. Added to that was an inability of men to stand up to women when women have so much power. Feminism has pretty much forced men out of politics and most everywhere else in the society. Of course there are still many male leaders but they represent the feminists and the economic interests. Our politics are now dominated by both groups and intent on keeping men out.

I'm sure this is all news to you but it's true. Eventually the debacle of feminism will be commonly acknowledged. The question is when will men realize their demise and act against it.

"Potent" was probably a bad choice of words. "Passionate" would be more accurate. In the political arena there are often causes that have little passion behind them, like feminism, and used only for cynical political reasons. On men's forums you hear the full range of true oppression and that causes people to be passionate about the issues. It's "needed" in that the oppression is being suppressed and there are true "victims" of this the most powerful interest group in America...feminism.

I am contantly amazed at how remarkably similar conpiracy theories are, if you replaced "women" with jews/communists/americans/homosexuals/catholics/the dutch/the liberal media/the conservative media/Queen Elizabeth you could hardly tell the difference.

This isn't a conspiracy theory though if you are one of the victims it seems like a conspiracy. The "conspiracy" isn't of individuals but of aspects of our natures that play off each other very naturally. Sex differences on an individual level are enriching and charming, but on a collective level it can get nasty as we have seen with feminism. Patriarchal organization as opposed to the feminist world we are now living in was by comparison altruistic and enlightened. The "Sisterhood" has always had powerful efects on society even before they had raw political power. With that power we find ourselves going back to tribal pagan organization and I for one am dismayed by it.

When I say men are forced out of many institutions in the society due to feminism, I'm talking about the traditionally powerless. Under patriarchy a place was made for them, under feminism they have no protection and in effect are considered the enemy unless they tow a feminist line. Many men, including myself, have to keep our mouths shut about feminism in order to maintain a healthy life. Feminism serves rich men and oppresses poor and middle class men.

Look, you and I have such completely diametrically opposed opinions and perceptions that there's no point discussing this. I find it impossible to get my head around even imagining seeing the world we live in the way you do.
