Dream roundup time! It's only been three weeks since the last one, but I've had some convoluted dreams lately.

Dreams from March. )

Finally: I think I dreamt last night that Robert of The Goes Wrong Show turned into a small aeroplane and Chris turned into an engine? They were indoors - in a restaurant or something, rather than a hangar - so it was a very small aeroplane: still larger than a person, certainly, but able to fit in a room. It was strangely intimate, because Chris was nestled against Robert's aeroplane 'neck', where the forward edge of the wing met the fuselage, and rumbling/purring.

I am now weirdly emotionally invested in aeroplane/engine slash, and I don't know what to do with this feeling.

Wait, did this happen because I was talking yesterday about what it would be like to be next to Robert Grove on a flight?

Prompted by the Introduction Meme, over at [community profile] findingfriends, I checked my profile page, and realized this story I linked to, as an example of my writing, was on another site, which has since become unreliable. Since I don't want to lose it, I'm posting it here, instead.

It was inspired by the Czech tale "The Twelve Iron Shoes," the Grimms tale "The Cast Iron Stove," and the Norwegian tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon.'

Perhaps a Note of Interest: Because I composed this read aloud on stage, it's (mostly) in iambic pentameter, with the line breaks removed.

THE BAREFOOT QUEEN
By Ann Magill

In olden times, when wishing made things so, there lived a princess loved by rich and poor. So fair was she, in face, and heart, and mind, that all who knew her wished to bring her joy. She never raised a hand, or spoke a word, or took a step, except in sheer delight. And so she grew within the palace grounds, becoming even sweeter day by day, for kindness was the only thing she knew.

But childhood and time will never stay, and many nobles sought to call her "wife." The king, dissatisfied, dismissed them all. Each seemed too harsh or proud for her kind heart.

And then, one day, a prince arrived at court whose manner was so easy, warm and free that all agreed he was her very match. The wedding feast was held, and songs were sung, and tears were shed, when loved ones said "Good-bye."

The princess, for her part, was unafraid. The man beside her on the carriage seat was kind as any she had ever known. And though the land grew stranger with each mile, she only saw new wonders to behold.

President Donald Trump recently made some incredibly shocking remarks about the Somali community in Minnesota, stating at a Cabinet meeting on March 26, 2026, that “In Minnesota, it’s very Somalia-oriented. These people come from a crooked country, disgusting country, one of the worst countries in the world. They come to our country — low IQs — and they rob us blind. Stupid people, and they rob us blind.”

His latest comments mark a significant escalation in his consistent criticism of Somali-Americans and Somalia, especially in a state where he garnered 46.68% of the vote in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Despite these numbers, Trump’s vitriolic attacks on Minnesota have continued and intensified, fueled by federal probes and deportation efforts.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is signing an executive order today that bans state officials with insider information from betting on prediction markets. This move directly expands existing ethics rules, prohibiting state appointees from using non-public information to enrich themselves or their family members through these fast-growing platforms. The order takes effect immediately once signed.

According to Politico, Newsom framed his decision as a direct counter to the current administration, accusing President Donald Trump’s Washington of being “riddled with ethical failures and insider profiteering.” He made it clear that California isn’t going to tolerate that kind of corruption.

In a win for those who champion equal treatment under the law, a controversial bill aimed at giving data centers special exemptions from environmental regulations has been pulled from consideration, per Politico, This happened after several leaders including Kentucky’s libertarian-leaning Representative Thomas Massie, voiced their discomfort over the issue.

Massie, known for consistently opposing corporate carve-outs and special-interest legislation, initially posted on X about the upcoming Judiciary Committee vote on HR 8037. He made it crystal clear he’d be voting “No” because, as he put it, “no industry deserves special treatment under the law. If the regulations are too onerous, repeal them for everyone.” This is classic Massie, always fighting against bills that seem to pick winners and losers in the corporate world.

Are you busy writing, creating art? Or did you have no time at all for anything, and are bemoaning that fact?

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio braced for some tough questions from European leaders at the G7 summit, all while criticizing nations unwilling to fully back the US-Israeli war on Iran. This comes as top diplomats showed significant divisions with the United States over the ongoing Iran war, despite agreeing on a call for an immediate halt to attacks against civilians and urging the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.

Rubio had already expressed the US administration’s increasing frustration with European allies before even landing in France for the summit. Speaking on Thursday, March 26, at Joint Base Andrews, he directly referenced European leaders who claimed the war on Iran wasn’t “Europe’s war.”

tip jar (l) woman shares job issue (c) Longhorn steakhouse entrance (r)

Working as a server can be demanding. Spending hours on end on your feet, juggling multiple tasks while at customers’ beck and call in an effort to make ends meet. All of the hard work can come with little reward at the end of the shift. When online food hacks explode online, these strangers may be even less generous, including the Parmesan crust at Longhorn Steakhouse.

What Is The Parmesan Crust Hack At Longhorn Steakhouse?

Although the Parmesan crust has been a menu option since 2010, it really took off after the steakhouse launched its Parmesan Crusted Chicken in 2022, which received positive reactions. Two years later, people dabbled with this savory topping on lamb chops. Videos of influencers chowing down on these cheesy meat cuts soared in popularity on social media, accounting for 30% of lamb chop orders, according to The Takeout. However, people’s curiosity didn’t stop there.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) didn’t mince words on March 26, 2026, delivering a sharp rebuke to Washington’s spending priorities in a viral X post that quickly grabbed hundreds of thousands of eyeballs. He laid out a stark contrast between domestic needs and military funding, a message that clearly resonated.

“Health care? ‘You’re on your own.’ Housing? ‘Nothing we can do.’ Grocery prices? ‘You’re out of luck.’ $200 billion for another war? ‘No problem!’” Sanders wrote. It’s pretty blunt, and he continued by saying, “Americans—Democrats, Republicans, independents—are SICK AND TIRED of endless wars. We need to invest here at home.” Sanders’ criticism comes on the heels of the Pentagon seeking over $200 billion in supplemental funding for the Iran war.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is currently facing a ton of backlash, especially from Fox viewers, after she flat-out claimed that being an American citizen is a “privilege,” not a “right.” That’s a pretty big statement, and it’s definitely raising some eyebrows because it flies in the face of established constitutional law.

According to The Mirror US, Bondi made these rather controversial remarks during a panel appearance on Fox News this past Friday. She really went for it, stating, “Being a citizen in our country is a privilege, not a right. And Donald Trump is going to have everyone in this country who deserves to be here, who is a citizen.” This statement didn’t sit well with a lot of people, and for good reason.

Canada is making a powerful play to solidify its presence in the Arctic, with Prime Minister Mark Carney announcing nearly CAN$35 billion in funding and pushing forward with the construction of two massive new icebreakers. This isn’t just about facing down Russian aggression; it’s also a clear message to the United States, especially under President Donald Trump, that Canada is fully capable of defending its own northern territories.

According to France24, one of these “crown jewel” vessels is taking shape at the Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver, where workers are already grinding metal beams for what promises to be a truly impressive piece of engineering. Seaspan’s vice president of production, Eddie Schehr, called it “the crown jewel,” and it’s easy to see why.

In a Reddit-style story narration that has gone viral on YouTube and TikTok, a woman, repeatedly sidelined by her mother-in-law, decided to charter a 180-foot mega-yacht to follow her in-laws’ Christmas Caribbean cruise itinerary after being excluded from their trip. Her dramatic response forced some much-needed conversations within her family and ultimately strengthened her marriage.

The narrator, who comes from money, had been married to her husband, Brett, for four years. Yet, her mother-in-law, Diane, had a pattern of leaving her out. The latest slight came at a Sunday family dinner when Diane announced she had booked a cruise and started handing out tickets to the seven-day Christmas Caribbean experience: one for Brett, one for his sister Amy and her husband, one for Brett’s brother, and even one for his brother’s girlfriend of just three months.

LA mom’s 6yo son comes and reveals what his friend said. Then mom vows to join a gym.

Los Angeles creator Chandler Alexis (TikTok/@chandleralexiss) usually shares the highlights of motherhood. But her latest “storytime” ended with a blunt reality check from her six-year-old son that sent her running to the gym next morning.

In a video with over 619,000 views, Chandler detailed how a neighborhood playground insult intended for her son ended up landing squarely on her own ego. The story is a hilarious reminder that children and their “frenemies” are often the most unfiltered critics we encounter.

It's challenge time!

  1. What is a common ear worm that you get?

My children rickroll me pretty regularly, so That Song gets stuck in my head.

  2. How long do they last?

Not very long. My brain is usually too preoccupied with other sources of worry and stress to spend long on an earworm.

  3. What do you do to get rid of them?

I don't know if this will sound contradictory, but on the rare occasions when an earworm sticks, I find that playing the actual song gets rid of it.

  4. What is the worst ear worm you've ever had?

There's this Robyn song that I dislike intensely, and it popped in and out of my head for a week. I don't like the song so was very reluctant to employ my usual remedy.

  5. Do you get some guilty pleasure in passing the ear worm along?

Not unless it's reciprocally rickrolling my children.
