Cheerful things!

So! I have been feeling a bit down recently for reasons I'm not going to go into in this post (I have realised that doing so makes me reluctant to read the comments, rather defeating the purpose) and would like some happy, positive human interaction.
So! If the mood strikes you, please comment with happy links, books/movies etc you've enjoyed recently, random cheerful comments about what you've been up to etc. No sympathy comments, I am not in the mood right now.
And to return the favour, here is my swancon costume as well as a mask I made. Also, here is some cute happy fixit art for Rogue One.
Also, while I'm here: hello to everyone who's been coming over to dreamwidth from livejournal!

Date: 2017-04-23 07:39 pm (UTC)My live-in partners have been super kind and supportive about my complete shift of hours because of my nightshift, and I really value that.
We had a really lovely birthday dinner for Bat tonight, I made a red duck curry with pineapple and it turned out really well, also made coconut rice that worked so much better than I worried over! Also cake turned out and Bat really liked it.

Date: 2017-04-24 01:04 am (UTC)Yesterday Rob led the 36 photowalk (this is a global walk where everybody pretends that they've got a roll of 36 film in their digital camera and that's it) in South Perth, and there was some dramatic rain falling across the sky and the setting sun - one of the displaced sunshowers that rain to one side of where you are. So some of us got dramatic shots and none of us got more than a few spots on us.
We saw dolphins and a flight of 5 biplanes!

Date: 2017-04-24 11:32 am (UTC)Which I am also mostly enjoying, now that I have gotten the hang of driving the damn Nomad around and not giving myself motion sickness.
So far, my Sarah is flirting with Peebee casually and more determinedly flirting with Suvi. Note that I haven't met Jaal, yet, though. Almost done with Eos!
Apart from the above, I have been chilling with the kitties, and not interacting with people at all! It's been glorious!
One more week of leave and back to work next Monday!

Also just reread The Goblin Emperor and realized all over that I WANT A SEQUEL.

On the weekend, I helped connect one of my students to disability support services at uni and they were really grateful.
My osteo and i had a good chat during my appointment last night about how her son is probably on the autism spectrum, and her whole approach to it just made me happy and ...hopeful to know that there will be people out there who grow up into their awesome autistic selves with that self-knowledge and having had support to figure out e.g. sensory and emotional regulation stuff from when they're little. (Also because i know that some of our conversations over the past few years probably helped her to come to her current attitude and understanding of autism.)
Oh, alsoalso there was a small human (7, i think) reading things in the waiting room before my appointment, and her Mum was preoccupied with paying and the kid was excitedly and loudly asking questions about why the 'ea' at the end of the name 'Chelsea' (the receptionist's name) was pronounced Chelesea and not Chelsea-ay or Chelsea-a, so i...answered her question, and explained about diphthongs, and we just had this really awesome, tiny, moment of connection. Well, 3 or 4 minutes of connection. *g*

Date: 2017-04-25 09:11 am (UTC)I ended up missing most of the Masquerade because I was in the restaurant waiting, waiting, waiting for dinner. Your costume is the bomb.
Sadly the fixit art link isn't working for me, but the rest of you post put a smile on my face. Thank you!
