There's apparently been a bunch of popular livejoruanls and communities hacked recently via a loophole involving old lapsed email addresses. More information here on how it happens and how to avoid it. Anyway, something to be aware of and look out for.

Stargate! This wednesday!.

And since we haven't had any new people in a while: new people welcome! It's not a very complicated show, you'll figure out anything you've missed :)

Almond roulade. I made this hazelnut roulade recipe using almond meal and Orgran chocolate mousse and it was tasty. I intend on making it with hazelnuts when my family comes over this weekend. This recipe uses the egg yolk too which could be interesting.

And again, that's a soy and dairy and egg free chocolate mousse mix from Orgran. It's basically cocoa, sugar, and vegetable gum and tasted kind of funny by itself, but made a nice cake filling. Obviously it's not vegan once you put it inside meringue but there's other options :) I could only find this is health food stores.

The soy&dairy free almond dark chocolate from the Woolworths health food section, it has a name like "Artisan". One of the nicer dark chocolates I've eaten.

Corn tortillas from Coles. They're small and dry and crack fairly easily so don't suit burritos, but make a nice toasted sandwich with chicken and avocado. Searching online they're often used in a kind of mexican lasagna which could be interesting. Would probably be much tastier with cheese :/

The gluten free muesli from "Food for health life foods", bought from coles. A bit over sweet, but nice mixed with more plain cereals like Amaranth, and unlike a lot of mueslis doesn't have coconut.

Also I just encountered the idea of tamales and am intrigued.

Before I forget:

I went to the doctor again, my test results came back low-but-just-within-normal for Vitamin D and something similar (low or high?) for ANA.

It turns out that colloidal minerals did not mean silver, but actual useful minerals like potassium etc, in the form of concentrated sea water. This stuff tastes really odd (a bit like salted licorice) but I've found it makes a nice addition to savoury sauces. I should check with him if that's an ok alternative to drinking it :D (vitamins etc I wouldn't do that too, but these are metals, they're hardly going to degrade)

He seemed pleasantly suprised that I was having an improvement so fast.

He said fermented soy (ie soy sauce) is probably ok (THANK GOD) but mainly went on a little rant about GM soy which I nodded and smiled through (it's not like I'm going to eat it either way...). He said there's no way to tell if trace amounts of gluten etc will affect me very severely except by comparing my health with them and without them, which is kind of annoying but what can you do. I think I'll wait to get really picky about that sort of thing until after christmas or there'll be no end of angst with my mum's cooking.
