Gardening! The gift that keeps on giving

EDIT: Done! That was MUCH easier than ringing people from the yellow pages...

So I thought about what I want for my birthday, and there's various obvious things (I don't go shopping much, so books and stuff) but what I REALLY want..is for one or more people to weed my garden. I just don't have the energy and Cam Can't Garden. I've tried hiring people and nothing eventuates, so I think this might end up being easier (though if any of you are poor students and want the work I am totally open to it(*). It doesn't count as a present then though :))

Before anyone volunteers and then has to take it back, I remind you I live in Bayswater. Near the train station, though, and I am almost always home. I would happily chat to you from a shady spot :)

(*)I think $15 or $20 an hour is the going rate? Who knows in these financially volatile times.

The Middleman!

Am currently a few episodes into "The Middleman" and it's fun. People kept recommending it to me but what they didn't make clear is that while it is good, it's also very odd and you have to be in the right mood for it. It's got the setting of Men in Black (only with supernatural/horror stuff as well as aliens), the silliness of "Get Smart" and the vibe of "Due South" if Ray was a female painter.

Here's a trailer to give you some idea. Cam didn't like it, but I do. And they even made zombies funny and not scary! (I say this as someone who was scared by Shaun of the Dean)

Birthday lunch rsvps

Hello! Have just posted to Facebook and that's a more convenient way of counting, but anyone who's not on that please let me know if you're coming.

I SUCK at deciding this sort of thing so cast the net pretty wide, given how absent minded I am I probably still missed people (but no complaining if I missed you because you currently live in England or Canberra etc :P)

I actually don't want TOO many people coming since I'm not sure how large a booking they'll take(*), but I've had too many bad experiences of NOONE coming to stuff I organise to just invite the actual number I want.

(*)In retrospect, 62 was maybe a few too many...I said I suck! Man, I hate organising things.
