Thanks to everyone who suggested menstral cups!

I ended up going for a Fleurcup since I was told they are easy to clean and OMG is it ever. No little fiddly bumps and raised text! No little hollow tube at the bottom that's impossible to properly clean! Otherwise it works just like my mooncup did. I got the larger size since I am over 25 and it's been perfectly comfortable.

Here's the original post if you want to see everyone's suggestions.

Nearly all of the public loos in Finland have hand held shower thingies as well as the usual toilet for cleaning the cups.

Are the handheld-shower things (bidets without the bowl) present in every stall?

That's such a brilliant idea.

Nearly all the public loos had them, didn't they Leece? And hotel rooms.

And a sink that you can use while seated at the loo, so civilised!

I'm glad it's working for you!

After a few more months of use, mine is going all stainy in the holes and just under the outside of the rim, even though it's perfectly smooth... I have tried scrubbing it with a nail-brush to clean it up, but hey, even if it doesn't look brand new forever it's still going to look cleaner than the Mooncup with its writing and hollow stem. And it's hygienic enough.

Try leaving it in the sunlight between uses. Even one month will dramatically reduce staining.

Thanks! That is relatively easy for me to achieve with my living situation (nobody I want to keep my cup private from); I'll just need to choose a windowsill that the cats don't jump on. Because cups roll in circles in a most pleasing way when batted.
