He ended up being a mix of Alan Rickman, Adrien Brody (as suggested by kerravonsen), and the vague book!Snape in my head.

So I decided to just think about it for a bit then draw whatever felt right, and that turned out to be something grungy and dark and rough around the edges.

I think "grungy and dark and rough around the edges" is very right for Snape.

Yay! I'm really glad you like it. And yeah that's what I was thinking, my more usual clean lines and animation style cell shading didn't seem right.
