DM of the rings

Series: Lord of the Rings
Story By: Shamus Young

Rating: PG
Complete? Yes
Found At: Twenty Sided

Description: Lord of the Rings as a roleplaying campaign.

Comments: I don't roleplay, but have spent enough time around roleplayers that I found this really enjoyable. All the injokes are explained in the notes, and the contrast between the players just wanting to kill things and the DM wanting to go through his huge overcomplicated backstory was very amusing.

And it inspired Darths and Droids, which is the Star Wars movies as a roleplaying campaign. With a DM who's fairly flexible about working in any bright ideas his players come up with, which is why everything that never made sense about Naboo turns out to have been invented by one player's kid sister who he brought along to a gaming session because there was no babysitter available.

(And there's been some dialogue suggesting that in the gap between the first two movies - it's only up to the second movie so far - three of the players went off to do a low-magic fantasy campaign in which they were a trio of rogues hired to kidnap some princess, but it all went wrong when this ninja pirate showed up out of, like, nowhere...)

I ended up reading the whole thing, not realising how long it was. Pretty hilarious though!
