Hakuoki: Sakamoto's bad endings
Background information and links to previous posts
I got a fic idea involving Sakamoto so time for his bad ends! I expect these to be medium level depressing, I didn't LOVE him the way I did some of the others but he's pretty endearing. I'm guessing at least one will be how the real dude actually died.
** Spoilers and oblique rape references**
Hmm, time to remind myself of what Sakamoto was up to in Chapter 5 of Kyoto Winds...OH THAT'S RIGHT. POINTING A GUN AT CHIZURU AFTER KAORU GOT HER CAPTURED BY THE IMPERIALISTS.
Which is actually after his canon death, so I guess that just never happens once he likes Chizuru enough.
Unrequited Love Ending:
Sakamoto sends her off with Shiranui while he fights the bad guys, promising to meet up with her later. She wants to stay with him but Shuranui drags her off like an unwanted package and delivers her to the Shinsengumi in Osaka.
Chizuru: Sakamoto will be fine, right?
Shiranui: No, he's probably dead. Anyway, gotta go, bye!
But she decides to wait for him in Osaka for as long as it takes for him to fulfill his promise.
THE END
Bad Ending:
So instead of waiting to ask Sakamoto why he's acting so evil, Chizuru DISLOCATES HER WRIST to escape her ropes. And then he comes across her escaping and explains that he was just pretending.
As they're escaping the compound together, she gets shot. As everything goes dark she feels something wet on her face: Sakamoto's tears.
THE END
Time for Edo Blossoms!
I don't think he's the sort to lose control and murder Chizuru. I'm inclined to predict Yamazaki and maybe Hijikata will get too stabby, but since SANAN never got that murdery WHO KNOWS.
Game Overs (not giving him blood):
Chapter 1:
Dude is so uncomfortable showing weakness he's still attempting bravado while having a seizure, and embarrassed to be heard making grunts of pain. Anyway, he's not quite fast enough to save Chizuru from getting killed during a fight.
THE END
Chapter 2:
There's some foreshadowing that Sakamoto might be about to die from being a vampire too long...and then they just fail to run away from some bad guys in time and she gets stabbed.
THE END
Just when I thought these were getting boring...
Chapter 3:
YAY THE CHAPTER WITH THE TRANSPHOBIA
Luckily the new content starts after Kaoru has revealed himself to be a man. He persuades Chizuru to meet up with him with a sob story about having sent himself in her stead when the Nagumo demon clan planned to make her have lots of babies, and having been abused for it.
Kaoru: But now the Yukimura clan can be revived. With you at our side we can breed a new generation of demons with pure descent!
Chizuru: ...!
*a bunch of vampires appear*
Kaoru: Now look. Your future husband might be standing somewhere here, yours for the taking. Ah, young love.
AAAAAAAHHHHH
When she tries to escape he says "You and I are bound together forever. Don't you think it's only natural that we experience the same happiness and sadness?"
KAORU THAT IS NOT A HEALTHY WAY TO HAVE YOUR FAMILY HELP YOU THROUGH SEXUAL TRAUMA
A single tear rolls down Chizuru's cheek as she resigns herself to her fate.
THE END
Well that was FUN. I have some vague notes for a Kaoru redemption arc fic I got stalled on and YOU KNOW WHAT NEVER MIND.
Bad end:
*Cheerfully watches Shiranui murder Kaoru in fast forward*
It's partway through the big end battle and Chizuru goes to check on how Heisuke and Sanan are doing, by herself for some reason? She finds Heisuke splattered with blood in a room covered in gore and filled with dead bodies. He manages to still be adorable. He and Sanan say Stabdad snuck off during the fighting and tell her to go back to Sakamoto.
She finds Sakamoto collapsed on the floor, covered in stab wounds and surrounded by...SCALPELS.
Stabdad: I've been waiting for you, Chizuru :D
THE END
Unrequited Love Ending:
They defeat the bad guys and all seems well...when Sakamoto's body begins to dissolve into ash. He says some really sweet sad things and gives Chizuru one last smile before he floats away on the breeze ;_;
The war ends in defeat for the Shinsengumi. Chizuru goes back to Yukimura village(*) to see Kaoru's grave and tell him how the war ended, because she thought he'd want to know (since he was...making an evil plan to take over the country with vampires that was cut short when Shiranui shot him, lol). She's about to leave when...
Shiranui turns up! He asks if she has anywhere to go, and she says she's going to Tosa to tell Sakamoto's family what happened to him.
Shiranui: You're going to tell them that even though they thought he was assassinated years ago he actually got turned into a vampire??
Chizuru: Yes.
Shiranui: Good luck with that. Anyway, when you're done, you're welcome to stay in my village. We're both demons after all.
She thanks him and goes on her way. She remembers the look of sadness in Sakamoto's eyes whenever he talked about Tosa, and imagines the tang of the sea.
THE END
(*)Which I think I finally understand the location of: near Shirakawa Castle in Mutsu Province, and not near Shirakawa Village or Mutsu City, which are in totally different parts of Japan. A bit late for my fic set near Mutsu City but hopefully noone will notice >.>
