I'm really enjoying Bodacious Space Pirates also, again, with some quibbles.

The thing that's really getting my goat, for some reason, is the godsawful gender disparity and sometimes just plain creepy clothing the female characters get to wear.

(Note: Only seen up to episode 11 so far.)

Specifically: Marika and Chiaki are almost never seen without a short skirt on (including when playing the role of Dangerous Pirate Captain!!). The ship's medic has only ever been seen in the one outfit, on ship, off, or as school nurse. The helmsman has had multiple outfits, FFS, and the medic is still in that one problematic dress.

And then there is that shot in the credits of the 13-year old princess in the diaphanous gown, backlit to make it even more transparent. So much with the squick-making.

And yet, I'm really enjoying the show, apart from those moments. Your points are also valid, but don't immediately grate on my nerves like the clothing issue.

As for the photo, it looks all: Comrade Commissar Sophie is deeply disappointed in you, Comrade. And you know what happens to people that disappoint Comrade Commissar Sophie? No? Neither does anyone else. Because they are never seen again.

I *adore* that jacket, I gotta say. Colour me jealous that there isn't a suitable male version. ;)
