Oh god yes. That sort of thing is a major reason why I am no longer a moderator at a certain large forum which shall remain nameless *mutters*
Of course, given how many people pretend to be trying for balance but are actually troublemaking trolls etc, it's not like it's entirely unjustified paranoia. I find the best way around it is to always state all the "obvious" facts of "my side" that I agree with before going into the ones I don't (and in my experience asking people to agree with these is the best way to root out trolls from the opposition, and to figure out where to start a dialogue from with genuine fence sitters)
